The Walking Dead!

Okay! Ready to start my first post, so please bear with me! Sorry it's long, there was a lot to cover tbh.

WARNING: THIS POST DOES HAVE SPOILERS. SO IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE SEASON PREMIERE, STOP READING AND WATCH IT! WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING?!

So I mean I guess let's start with the season premiere? So my first thought in my head was...

Okay I see you Negan, ya dirty bastard. Ever since the show decided to change some of what was in the comics, you can never be too sure who is going to die. Abraham was the unfortunate victim of the game choking the words "Suck my nuts" before feeling the wrath of Lucille. Originally, the way he died in the comic books, is actually the way that Denise died in the TV series. Interesting right? Extremely hard to watch because right after beating Abraham to a pulp, Negan was basically like "Oh shit, y'all were dating? SUCKS TO SUCK BRUH" to Rosita.

This is important because Negan is laying down the law, showing Rick and the other survivors that He is the Alpha (Ohoho you see what I did there?) and that they should obey in order to live. You can see the fear in them because right now, they're helpless. Carol and Morgan don't know that they had been held hostage, they're currently in the Kingdom.

So Daryl was pissed af and punched Negan in the face. I kinda sat there for a hot second and thought that just because he already killed Abraham, doesn't mean he can't kill another. I tried to stay positive because this is a very important part in the comics. So after Daryl got pulled away and held down, viewers probably knew there was going to be a consequence.

Negan was just like "Back to it!" AND WHAM MY BABY GLENN GETS HIT RIGHT IN THE NOGGIN. I can tell you guys right now, I am a very vocal and emotional person and when he was hit, I screamed so loud that I scared the shit out of my brother. To be fair, this is how Glenn originally dies in the comic books so I'm glad they stuck with it when it came down to the series. I have loved Glenn's character since Season 1 so it was kinda heart breaking to see, especially Maggie is there preggers and everything watching her husband get his face beat in.

Side note, Did you guys see the leaked video of Maggie being killed by Negan? I thought that would have been a great plot twist, and it's because she was pregnant. Could you imagine the guilt? I mean he seems like a heartless man, but killing someone who was bearing a child can be traumatizing. Just a thought though.

Anyways! So Negan ended up dragging Rick to the RV and took a joy ride to some sort of freeway, of course after testing Rick to see if he would try to kill him with the hatchet he put down on the table but he had a gun hidden up his ass or something because he pulled it out of nowhere. So they drive to said random freeway and Negan throws the hatchet on the roof of the RV and tells Rick to fetch. He finally gets on top of the RV and he's kinda triggered because it seemed like he was just having a flash back of what happened the night before. This whole part of the episode seemed like a filler to most, but I believe it's more than that. Negan was testing Rick to see if he would comply after you know, killing his beloved friends with Lucille. He completes his task after being shot at and nearly bitten by a herd of walkers, and they head back to where the others were being held.

After repeating himself about how he's the law and he will make sure people stay in their place, Negan asks Rick to cut off Carl's hand at the forearm. At first I was like, "Wow that's some messed up shit." and trust me when I say I've been getting annoyed about how he's in his angst-y teenage mood but this was pretty intense. If you didn't know, Rick's dominant hand was actually cut off by the Governor in the comics, so I was already screaming inside when he was being pressured to cut off his own son's hand. This episode was where Carl was much more tolerable because he calmly told his dad it's fine. Yeah, just cut my hand off, it's cool fam. Just as Rick finally talked himself into doing it, Negan stopped him because the thought of him finally complying to his order was enough for him.

So after all that said and done, they take Daryl as a prisoner and reminded them that the saviors will take half of their supplies in a week. As they leave the survivors, they sit in a circle shocked about what had happened within the last 24 hours. Sasha and Rosita talked to each other about who would take Abraham's body and mourned together. Maggie was so done and just wanted to be left there, she felt like she was the blame for being subdued. Obviously they were like "Nah bruh we can't leave you here, you pregnant." They carry the bodies away with the confidence shot and their hearts broken. That's basically it. They do show a short clip of Morgan and Carol in the Kingdom in which hopefully we get introduced to King Ezekiel and Shiva soon.

Something I really enjoy about the TV series is that there are new characters that aren't in the comics, so you can't really tell how or when they're going to die. Like Daryl, my boy if you die there will be pterodactyl screeching in my house and no one will like it. The fact that the saviors took him leaves us wondering what are they going to do with him, and will he survive? There was a part where Negan was asking Rick about actually thinking he would live a peaceful life a few years down with the rest of the survivors. I could help but tear up a little, but I ended up actually crying when they showed a dream sequence (I'm gonna call it that for now) of all of them in Alexandria with a long table in the grass with everyone sitting there. That included Glenn, and Glenn's baby at the end of the table which hit me hard in the feels. It was a hard episode to watch, but I'm excited for this season. Which is weird because I haven't been that excited in a while, probably since season 3 or 4.

Thanks for reading my obnoxiously long The Walking Dead post! I'll be posting more about other things as well so stay tuned my friends!
